In the royal court of king Janaka, sage Viswamitra introduces to the king the youthful Rama and Lakshmana. The king suggests that if Rama can lift and string Lord Siva's bow, he would give Sita in marriage to Rama.

Rama lifts the bow effortlessly and while stinging it, breaks it into two.

In the presence of King Janaka and King Dasaratha, Queens Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi, all sages including Vasishta & Viswamitra and other Princes, Rama weds Sita with Lakshmana, Bharata and Sathrughna.
