Sri Parvati ( Daughter of Himavan, the king of the mountains ) accompanied by her intimate friends, serves Lord Siva while he was doing penance in the Himalayas. When Manmatha ( Cupid ) disturbs Lord Siva with his arrows, Lord Siva opens His third eye and reduces Manmatha to ashes.

With the desire of marrying Lord Siva, Sri Parvati begins to perform severe penance.

At the request of all the Gods, Lord Siva marries Sri Parvati in the presence of Brahma, Vishnu, Sapta Rishis, Gods and other ganas.
